Saddling

Ephesians 6:11-17 - put on the full armour of God

Just as we must dress our horses before riding, we also need to put on the armour of a Christian to walk in this world.

* Horsemanship Manual=sword of spirit-Bible shows us how to live, manual teaches us what to do with our horse.

Cinch=belt of truth-will keep you safe

Seat=breastplate of righteousness, stability

Stirrups=help keep you balanced, give you a foundation, as does the Gospel of peace

Fenders=protect, or shield your legs from the horse and the horse from you, but have faith the horse can still feel you

Horn=helmet of salvation-something to grab in emergencies

Demonstrate how a clean saddle pad looks-we want to keep the dirt out of our lives and thoughts as well. Just as the saddle pad protects the horse, Jesus died to blanket our hearts so we can get to heaven.

We go down through the rings three times when tying on a saddle, just like the Trinity-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The cinch knot goes out towards the head, where Christ is, across to the tail, where we are, up to heaven, and then down to earth, just as God sent Christ down to earth for us.

When we accept Christ as our personal Saviour, we are bound to Him, and He is bound to us, as the saddle is bound to the horse.

As the latigo goes to the cinch to keep the saddle secure on the horse, so we must be secured to God.

Scripture: Psalm 119:5 - Oh that my ways were directed to keep Your Word.
